Volodymyr
Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expects that adoption and enactment of the Law on the
Diplomatic Service will enhance social
safeguards for diplomatic officials and strengthen the role of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs in the realization
of the foreign policy.
V. Lytvyn made this statement, addressing the participants of 10th Council of the Heads of the Foreign Diplomatic Services of Ukraine on Tuesday.
Speaking on the amendments and supplements to the Law "On Diplomatic Service" that concerns the Ministry on Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, V. Lytvyn stated that the document strengthened the role of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the implementation of the foreign policy, provision of the social guarantees for diplomatic services officials, and regulation of the diplomatic ranks system. This document "is the common development of the Ministry on Foreign Affairs, Finance, Justice, Labour and Social Policy and also the Parliamentary Institute of Legislation"
V. Lytvyn reminded that the Law was adopted in the second reading on 1 June 2010 by 315 votes and was is being adjusted with account for the motions of the President of Ukraine. "Adoption of the adjusted Law will make our diplomatic service modern, efficient and prestigious, providing essential guarantees for its officials", the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.
